What We Do

Integrity’s Haven Equine Rescue Centre is a registered Canadian charity located in Chester Basin, Nova Scotia. We are a small, dedicated rescue farm focused on helping animals who are sick, senior, abandoned, or no longer able to be cared for by their previous owners.

About Us

Integrity’s Haven Equine Rescue Centre (IHERC) is dedicated to providing a forever home for neglected, abandoned, and surrendered animals. We provide a soft landing, compassionate care and rehabilitation with the help of our veterinary team. Our mandate is rooted in kindness, responsible stewardship and the belief that every animal deserves dignity, safety and love. We work tirelessly to promote responsible animal ownership and create brighter futures - one rescue at a time!

Angela Welburn is the founder and operator of IHERC, located in the Chester Basin, Nova Scotia. Her journey began at a young age with recognizing the need to provide a home for sick and senior animals. Twenty five years ago, she saved a horse ‘with attitude’ from a meat buyer. This horse, Champ, taught Angela’s niece to ride, and the two won championships in the show ring. The rescuing continues and includes horses, donkeys, zonkeys, mules, goats, dogs and cats. Angela’s heart is huge and at the center of our rescue. Her competence in animal care is extraordinary. She is the momma to all of our beautiful fur babies.

Dedicated volunteers show up in all weather to provide care for our herd and farm. Rescue work is often very difficult, both physically and emotionally. We have an extraordinary TEAM of volunteers and appreciate their importance in contributing to our success. Ali, Dwayne, Michelle, Mark, Mo, Saundra, Holly, Ina, Brenda B., Peter, Brenda O., and Michaela are all passionate about our mission and collectively share a love for animals.

Our mission is simple: to provide safety, care, and dignity to animals who need it most.
